We brought the girls here because of a recommendation from a local gentleman. He said it was some of the best fried fish in the Northwoods, and he was right. When we got there, we had a bit of a wait so we took the girls in the big backyard and watched them play hide and seek while the wife and I had a Spotted Cow. I had the fish and detected a hint of either allspice or nutmeg in the batter which was a nice surprise. The batter was not heavy or greasy at all. The potato salad was ok and the cole slaw seemed store bought. The girls shared a burger that was the size of their plate. Overall, good little place with good fried fish. Especially if you are looking for fried fish that is not all batter and greasy with some different spices in the batter.

This is one of my favorite places to stop in the northwoods. The fish fry is amazing, the atmosphere is quaint, and the bar is extremely clean. Great place to have a drink, inside or out, while you wait to be seated. The prices are good and the food is always hot. Definitely an Eagle River must! Large groups make sure to call ahead.

Fish fry at the Honey Bear? I can handle that. Even though the fish is frozen and sent over from China according to the waitress who I'll quote "doesn't care what I order". On second thought. Forget that! Maybe I can't handle the Honey Bear. If I ever end up at this place I'll have to order the giant Bloody Mary, even though I'm allergic to all the ingredients just to survive the poor service and mediocre fish fry...and it better be for free. One different distraction created for bored customers were the plastic soda bottle on each table filled with seeds and random objects such as a pin, rolling eyeball, a tac etc. The point is to try to find all the objects listed on the bottle. Looking back I don't have a whole lot of positive to say other than the food was better than I had expected but still not stellar...

I had the Eagle River salad--chicken, craisins, and pecans with raspberry vinaigrette. Delicious!

Northwoods Perfected! Very reasonably priced and large portions, which is unusual for the area. The delicious fish fry is genuine Northwoods...but be prepared for a wait on Friday nights ( get a real old-fashioned and hang at the bar) or call ahead for a reservation. The huge $5 Bloody's on Saturdays will make your jaw drop. I travel across the country for a living, and the Honey Bear serves the best 'classic' buffalo wings I've ever had. Service is friendly and fast. Crowd is a nice mix of locals and visitors. Also accessible from the water, great for a summer lunch stop by boat.

We've been to the Honey Bear for their Friday Fish fry during Cranberry Festival each October. It's always jammed, to say the least but the 60-90 minute wait is worth it. The enormous Bloody Marys are great. We've been back several times and are always amazed how crowded it gets in the bar for the fish fry, but it is always fun crowd and very entertaining.

Amazing fish fry. Perfect addition to any trip up north. We were so full we couldn't even finish our beers and that's saying something.

We've tried this place three times, attempting to give them the benefit of the doubt. Worst to note, the service. The first time it was 2 of us, and after being seated we were unattended to for 15-20 min. I got up and got us menus. Following our fish dinner, which was amazingly salty, I was forced to find my own water. The last time, which will truly be the last time, the service was horrendous. We were told the wait would be 1/2 hour, and it was, in fact, 1 hour and 20 min. Five of us were seated at a table for 4, and not comfortably - one of us literally had a corner to eat from. We asked for more water and the waitress plopped a pitcher on the table. We all ordered the fish fry, which is not all you care to eat, and a plate of fish and plate of fries was delivered. I think the fish should have been individually plated as I'm not sure we even got a fair share. Of course, the 1/2 piece of rye bread we were allotted filled our tummies, even if the teeny scoop of potato salad didn't. Many other restaurant choices in the area - in my opinion, skip this one. It's worth the wait to head to Eagle Waters.

Having a vacation home in Eagle River for the last 20+ years, this is our go-to Friday night fish fry. The wait can be tough (I blame the Chicagoans), but the bar is clean and there's a nice outside patio to wait with a pitcher of beer. The fish itself has a great batter on it, not greasy at all. Get the baby walleye!! Flaky, flavorful, and a healthy portion. The cole slaw is unfortunately overly sweet, but the fries are pretty decent. We've gotten individual plates and also have been served family style. And though it's not all-you-can-eat, we've never left hungry. Though of course Friday is the traditional fish fry night, they do serve their delicious baby walleye (and other fish fry choices) every night - without the long wait for a table.

Homemade chicken dumpling soup! Comes with a generous side of fresh fruit. Yum. Fish fry great. Really good Bloody Mary (with enough accompaniments to count as an appetizer). Waitress not very friendly. Burgers just ok. Nacho platter good. They don't serve food outside but they do have a deck.

Came for lunch based on knowing this place was popular for the area even though we were the only ones -- weekday and after lunch/before dinner. I had the fish sandwich which was delicious and large. Would have like some lemon. The fries were dry, likely frozen and would not get them again...didn't eat them. My husband had the corned beef sandwich which was good and served on marble rye which is nice. Not big city deli quality but pretty good. If the fries had been great I would give this place another star, maybe 2. Charming interior and good service. It would not be a place that I would wait an hour for in the summer, its on the highway ... many choices where the food is comparable but you are on the lake, etc.

We have been coming here for years and have always had a great meal. For this visit, we came for lunch and as always, the soup was great and the sandwiches were top notch. Service can be slow especially when they get slammed for lunch so sit in the Bar room for better ambiance and to make eye contact with the bartender in case you want to get another drink a little quicker! Overall it was a great visit and we will be back

Best fish fry I've ever had. Drinks are reasonable. Good service. Atmosphere is typical of a bar in the north woods.

Went last night for the fish fry. Outstanding is the summary. Two large pieces of cod, lightly battered and excellent quality. Great Cole slaw. Several choices on the menu but believe "fried" was only option not baked. Definitely will be back.

My wife and I stopped by last evening. Business was brisk but I have been there when they have been busier. The Service was appalling. No one came back for a drink refill or to ask how our food was. We waited more than 30 minutes to get our bill after we finished eating and only got it then because we flagged a different Waitress down. Will not be going back anytime soon. Was there for almost two hours in total. We were not the only ones who received bad service that night . Everyone was waiting, they finely started telling people that the kitchen was backed up 30 to 40 minutes and people were just turning around and going elsewhere .

Excellent Friday fish fry. Be sure to ask for lemon slices with yours if you want them. They're not included and this place is both too busy and short staffed to allow you an opportunity to ask for such odds and ends after food is brought to your table. Great food and reasonable prices. Several good Leinenkugel beers on tap. Have been here several times and will return.
